Buying ENERGY STAR
ENERGY STAR compliant products help reduce wasted energy and save money without sacrificing features, performance or cost.
Do ENERGY STAR compliant products cost more?
ENERGY STAR compliant products do not cost more than regular products -- in fact, ENERGY STAR products save money over their lifespan because they use energy more efficiently.
At work
Most IT/office equipment manufacturers, suppliers and resellers should be able to supply products compliant with the ENERGY STAR standard, as long as you specify them when ordering.
As a general guide, manufacturers and purchasers should ensure that all products are shipped with the ENERGY STAR low-power features activated or enabled and tested. This eliminates the need for users to configure the power management features themselves and helps ensure that the energy saving features are used .
At home
Many home electronics products are now sold with an ENERGY STAR label. Some products that aren't labelled may still comply, so check the manufacturer's brochures or ask sales staff for information. If they don't know, request that they ask their supplier: the more that manufacturers and retailers are aware that consumers want this information, the more likely they are to provide it.
